Israeli Military Releases Initial Findings After Khan Younis Hospital Attack

A day after Israeli airstrikes hit the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis killing at least 20 people, among them five journalists—the Israeli military has issued its preliminary findings on the incident.

According to the statement, the strikes were aimed at “a camera set up by Hamas near the Nasser Hospital,” which the military claims was being used to monitor its movements.

The report acknowledges that “several issues” still require deeper review, including the kind of ammunition deployed and the chain of command involved in authorising the attack.

As correspondent Emir Nader notes, this marks a noticeable shift in tone compared with earlier remarks from Israeli officials.

Meanwhile, large-scale protests took place across Israel, organised by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum. Labeled a nationwide “day of disruption,” demonstrators urged the government to prioritise securing the release of hostages held by Hamas and to push for an end to the conflict.

At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presided over a security cabinet meeting. Reports suggest the session focused on approving upcoming phases of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza City, though no discussions were held on the ceasefire initiative put forward by regional mediators. The outcome of the meeting has not yet been made public.
