The drama surrounding Pakistan’s national cricketer Haider Ali in the UK has finally come to an end. The alleged rape case was closed due to lack of evidence, and Greater Manchester Police have cleared him. According to the police and the Crown Prosecution Service, the allegations could not be proven. Following this, Haider Ali’s extended bail period has ended, his passport has been returned, and he is now free to return to Pakistan. With this development, it is expected that he will soon resume his cricketing activities.
The story, however, began a month earlier. Haider Ali was accused by a woman in Manchester of alleged sexual assault, reportedly occurring on 23 July 2025. He was arrested on 4 August 2025 by Greater Manchester Police and later released on bail. During this period, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended him immediately, stating that he would not participate in any cricketing activity until the legal process was complete, while also ensuring full legal support and respect for the UK judicial process. The police confirmed that support was provided to the complainant as well.
The allegations against Haider Ali had caused considerable embarrassment for Pakistani cricketers worldwide and impacted the country’s reputation, while also disappointing his fans. With his innocence now officially recognized, Pakistani cricket fans can regain pride in their hero, and it serves as a reminder that national cricketers bear the responsibility of avoiding any actions that could tarnish their personal reputation or that of their country.
