UK Veterans Can Now Download Digital ID Cards from Today

From today, Friday, October 17, 2025, UK veterans can officially apply for and download a digital version of their HM Armed Forces Veteran Card through the GOV.UK One Login, the government has confirmed.

The new digital ID card allows veterans to securely prove their status using their smartphone or tablet, making it quicker and easier to access support, services, and discounts. It holds the same validity as the physical card and aims to modernise how veterans are recognised across the UK.

According to the officials, the digital card is entirely optional veterans can choose whether to use it or continue relying on their existing physical card, which remains fully valid and accepted.

Those who already have a physical veteran card will automatically be able to access the digital version, while new applicants can apply online through the GOV.UK portal.

Officials described the rollout as a “significant milestone” in improving veteran support and recognition, ensuring that former service members are honoured and assisted with greater convenience in the digital era.
