Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Ashgabat, where he was warmly received by Turkmenistan’s President, His Excellency Serdar Berdimuhamedow.
The Pakistani prime minister is visiting Turkmenistan to attend an international forum marking the “International Year of Peace and Trust 2025, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality.” The forum was attended by several world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Addressing the forum, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the national leader of the Turkmen people and President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, was like a brother to him and had played a key role in strengthening friendship between Pakistan and Turkmenistan. He emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Turkmenistan and that a strong foundation of trust, brotherhood, and cooperation exists between the two countries.
The prime minister congratulated Turkmenistan on completing 30 years of permanent neutrality, noting that the country has consistently played a positive role in promoting peace, stability, and mutual trust across the world. He also praised Turkmenistan’s efforts that led the United Nations to declare 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” calling it an important and commendable step toward the promotion of global peace.
