India Defeat Pakistan by 61 Runs in High-Profile T20 World Cup Clash

In a much-anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India secured a convincing 61-run victory over Pakistan on Sunday.

Batting first, India posted a competitive 175-for-7, powered by a fiery 77 from Ishan Kishan, who led the charge with aggressive strokeplay against the Pakistani attack.  Despite sporadic breakthroughs from Pakistan bowlers, the Indian side maintained momentum to set a challenging target.

In reply, Pakistan struggled to establish partnerships and were bowled out for 114, with only a few notable contributions. India’s bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel, consistently struck at crucial moments to stifle the chase.

The match played against a backdrop of intense rivalry and geopolitical tensions drew fervent attention worldwide, adding another chapter to the storied India-Pakistan cricket rivalry.

India’s win keeps them strong in the group stages as the T20 World Cup progresses, while Pakistan will look to bounce back in their remaining fixtures.
