West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the alleged rape of a Sikh woman in her 20s, which is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime. The attack took place on the morning of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, shortly before 8:30 a.m., in the Tame Road area of Oldbury.
According to reports, the victim stated that her attackers shouted racist abuse, telling her she did not belong in the UK, during the assault.
The two suspects have been described as white men. One was of heavy build, with a shaved head, wearing a dark sweatshirt and gloves. The other was said to be dressed in a grey top with a silver zip.
Chief Superintendent Kim Madill confirmed that detectives are pursuing several lines of inquiry, including reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out forensic examinations. Extra police patrols have been deployed locally to reassure residents, and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The Sikh Federation (UK) has strongly condemned the incident and criticised political leaders for failing to speak out, warning that racial tensions and immigration debates are fuelling hostility against minority communities.
Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting incident log 798 of September 9.
