Joint Statement on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s Visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, received Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. The two leaders held a formal meeting in the presence of their respective delegations.
At the outset, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed warm greetings and best wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Both sides reviewed the deep-rooted and strategic relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and exchanged views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
Underscoring the historic partnership, brotherhood, and Islamic solidarity spanning nearly eight decades, as well as the close strategic and defense cooperation between the two nations, Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif signed the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (SMDA) between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The agreement reflects the shared resolve of both countries to strengthen their security, enhance defense cooperation, and work jointly for peace and stability in the region and beyond. It stipulates that any act of aggression against one country will be considered an act of aggression against both, thereby reinforcing the commitment to collective defense and mutual protection.
