Celebrities Rally Against Proposed Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery Deal

A group of prominent Hollywood actors, directors, and producers has spoken out against a potential merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, raising concerns about its impact on the film and television industry.

In a shared statement, industry figures warned that combining two major studios could reduce competition and limit creative opportunities. They argued that increased consolidation may give too much control to a smaller number of large companies, making it harder for independent creators and diverse stories to reach audiences.

Several industry organisations have also expressed concern about possible job losses and budget cuts. With both companies already restructuring in recent years, critics fear a merger could lead to further layoffs and fewer productions.

Although neither Paramount nor Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed any deal, both companies have acknowledged reviewing their long-term strategies amid growing competition in the streaming market.

Experts believe that if a merger moves forward, it will face strict regulatory scrutiny, as concerns over media concentration and its effect on creativity and consumer choice continue to grow.
