Royal Ascot is widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious, historic and celebrated horse racing events. Its origins date back to 1711 when Queen Anne identified the area near Windsor as an ideal location for horse racing. Since then, the event has evolved into a globally renowned five-day festival held every June at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, attracting racing enthusiasts, royalty and international visitors alike.

The event’s unique connection with the British Royal Family is one of its defining features. In 1825, King George IV introduced the Royal Procession, a tradition in which members of the Royal Family arrive at the racecourse in horse-drawn carriages. Today, the procession remains one of the most anticipated highlights of Royal Ascot, with King Charles III, Queen Camilla and distinguished guests regularly taking part.

Each year, Royal Ascot attracts more than 300,000 spectators, while around 500 elite thoroughbred horses compete in over 35 races across five days. With total prize money exceeding £10 million, the meeting showcases some of the finest horses, jockeys and trainers in international racing. Beyond the sporting spectacle, the event generates a significant economic impact for the United Kingdom through tourism, hospitality, retail and related industries.

Royal Ascot is equally famous for its strict dress code and world-renowned fashion scene. Women attend in elegant designer outfits, elaborate hats and fascinators, while men traditionally wear morning suits, waistcoats, ties and top hats. In several enclosures, formal attire is mandatory, making Royal Ascot one of the most prestigious fashion showcases in the world.

More than just a horse racing festival, Royal Ascot represents over three centuries of British history, royal heritage, culture, fashion and tradition. It remains a symbol of national identity and one of the most iconic events on the global sporting and social calendar.
