England began their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in strong fashion with an entertaining 4–2 victory over Croatia in their opening Group L fixture in the United States.

Harry Kane led the way for Gareth Southgate’s side with a brace, while Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford also got on the scoresheet as England produced a dominant second-half performance to secure all three points.

The match was closely contested early on, with Croatia matching England’s intensity before the breakthrough came. However, England’s attacking depth proved decisive as they pulled away after the interval.

The result gives England a perfect start to the tournament and places them in a strong position in the group standings ahead of their next fixture against Ghana.
