Israel’s Army Begins Preparations for First Phase of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

Israel’s military has begun preparations for the first phase of Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, signaling cautious movement toward a possible ceasefire and hostage release deal.

According to reports from the Associated Press, the Israeli army has shifted to a defensive posture across several sectors of Gaza, reducing offensive operations as diplomatic pressure mounts from Washington. The move follows Trump’s demand that Israel “immediately stop bombing Gaza” to facilitate the release of all remaining hostages.

Under the plan’s initial phase, Israeli forces would pause active combat, allow humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza, and prepare for a staged withdrawal once Hamas complies with the terms of the agreement including the release of captives and a commitment to demilitarisation.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that troops remain “fully alert” but are “positioned for stability operations” as the peace framework takes shape.

Trump has given Hamas a deadline of Sunday, 6 p.m. Washington time, to fully accept the proposal or face “severe consequences.” Meanwhile, Hamas has indicated partial acceptance, agreeing to release hostages but resisting total disarmament.

Observers note that this moment could mark a turning point in the months-long conflict provided both sides honor their commitments and international monitors can ensure compliance.
