Saudi Arabia Suspends All Aid to Afghanistan Amid Border Clashes with Pakistan

Saudi Arabia has recently suspended all forms of aid to Afghanistan following the recent border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The decision comes after Afghan Taliban fighters reportedly attacked Pakistani military posts, sparking intense fighting that resulted in the deaths of 23 Pakistani soldiers and several Taliban militants.

Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban of being responsible for cross-border terrorist attacks inside its territory, an allegation strongly denied by the Afghan government.

Expressing deep concern over the escalating tensions, Saudi Arabia has urged both nations to exercise restraint and resolve their disputes through dialogue. The suspension of aid reflects Riyadh’s firm stance on the conflict and signals its growing unease over the deteriorating situation.

This development follows the signing of a “Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement” between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2025, under which both nations pledged to consider an attack on one as an attack on both. The current suspension of aid could have significant implications for relations between Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan, as well as for regional stability.
