Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially revealed its hosting plan for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. A total of 44 matches will be played across eight major South African cities, while Zimbabwe and Namibia will co-host with an additional 10 fixtures. The announcement was accompanied by the establishment of the Local Organising Committee Board (LOCB), headed by former South African cabinet minister Trevor Manuel, who will serve as Independent Chairman.
The host cities in South Africa — Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London, and Paarl — have been confirmed as the main hubs for the competition. CSA emphasized that the event will be “bold, inclusive, and unifying,” aiming to capture the spirit of Africa while showcasing its cricketing passion. With Zimbabwe and Namibia also playing a key role, the tournament will extend its impact across the southern African region.
CSA President Rihan Richards highlighted the significance of bringing the World Cup back to Africa after 24 years. “Hosting the 2027 edition on African soil is more than just an honor; it’s an opportunity to inspire, attract new fans, and use digital innovation to connect with audiences across the continent and globally,” he remarked.
Trevor Manuel, now chair of the LOCB, brings decades of leadership and governance expertise to the role. Pearl Maphoshe, Chairperson of the CSA Board, added: “Our goal is to deliver a global event that reflects South Africa’s diversity, inclusivity, and unity. The 2027 World Cup will be distinct in its style, atmosphere, and fan engagement — creating an unforgettable experience for players, supporters, and partners alike.”
CSA underlined that the tournament is not only about top-class cricket but also about extending the game’s influence. By hosting matches in Zimbabwe and Namibia, alongside fixtures across a range of traditional and emerging venues in South Africa, CSA hopes to highlight the continent’s cultural vibrancy and cricketing depth.
