South China Sea, October 27, 2025

According to reports, two U.S. Navy aircraft from the USS Nimitz an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter and an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet were destroyed in separate crashes occurring approximately 30 minutes apart in the South China Sea. The incidents took place between October 26 and 27, 2025.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Pacific Fleet confirmed that both crashes occurred during mission operations but emphasised that there is no evidence of hostile action or enemy engagement. Fortunately, all five crew members three from the helicopter and two fighter pilots were safely rescued and are reported to be in stable medical condition.

The U.S. Navy has launched a full investigation into both incidents to determine their exact causes. Preliminary information suggests the crashes may have resulted from technical or operational malfunctions, though no final conclusions will be made until the official investigation report is released.

The fact that two aircraft from one of America’s most advanced naval fleets went down within hours has drawn significant international attention and concern.
