During the night of 29–30 October 2025, Pakistan’s security forces detected a group of Khawarij attempting to infiltrate from Afghanistan into the Bajaur District.
Alert troops swiftly engaged the intruders, successfully foiling the infiltration attempt. Four Khawarij, including a high-value target and group leader Amjad Mazahim, were killed during the operation.
Amjad Mazahim, who served as deputy to Noor Wali and headed the Rehbari Shura of the Indian-sponsored militant outfit Fitna al Khawarij, was among the most wanted terrorists in the country. A reward of PKR 5 million had been announced for his capture. While based in Afghanistan, Mazahim actively orchestrated multiple terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
Security officials warned that the leadership of Fitna al Khawarij, operating from Afghanistan, continues to plan infiltration attempts aimed at creating a false perception of internal presence and boosting the morale of their dwindling forces in Bajaur and Mohmand, which have suffered significant losses due to ongoing security operations.

Pakistan has once again urged the Interim Afghan Government to take decisive action to prevent Afghan soil from being used by Khawarij proxies to target Pakistan. Officials stressed that this incident reinforces Pakistan’s stance that Afghanistan remains a safe haven for Indian-backed Khawarij networks.
A sanitization operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining militants as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Authorities confirmed that the campaign will continue with full intensity until foreign-sponsored terrorism is completely eradicated from Pakistan.
