An Afghan national, Fayaz Khan, has been sentenced to five years in prison following his conviction for threatening to kill Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK.
The threat was made in a TikTok video posted in October 2024, in which Khan said “pop, pop, pop” while making gun gestures and pointing to an AK-47 tattoo on his face. Prosecutors argued the video was “sinister and menacing”.
Khan also illegally entered the UK after travelling by small boat. Swedish records suggest he may have used a false name and has a criminal record there.
During the trial at Southwark Crown Court, Farage testified that he had been left feeling “genuinely worried” by the video. The judge described the threat as not mere abuse but a serious threat to kill using a firearm.
After the sentencing, Khan shouted at the courtroom, accusing Farage of ruining his life. Farage welcomed the verdict but expressed concern that Khan could be eligible for release after serving some of his sentence.
