Gozo, Malta (Public Mirror)
A heart-wrenching tragedy struck at Ramla Bay, a popular coastal spot on Malta’s Gozo island, when a British Pakistani father and son from Islamabad lost their lives while on holiday.
According to local authorities, 37-year-old Muhammad Qudoos and his 11-year-old son, Ayaan Qudoos, were swimming when they were suddenly caught in strong waves. In a desperate attempt to save his son, the father was also swept away by the sea.
A large-scale rescue operation involving boats and a helicopter was launched, and after several hours of effort, both bodies were recovered and transported to a nearby hospital.
The incident occurred during the family’s final days of vacation. Rescue efforts were hampered by rough weather and high winds, making the operation particularly challenging.
Authorities confirmed that the victims were originally from Islamabad, Pakistan, though details about their current place of residence in the UK have not yet been released.
This tragedy adds to a growing number of drowning incidents in Malta this year, prompting renewed calls for stronger safety measures along the island’s beaches.
