Pakistan Jordan Defence Partnership Reaffirmed During King Abdullah II’s Two-Day Visit

His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS). He was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a delegation of senior Jordanian civil and military representatives. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff, along with other senior officials, welcomed the royal visitors.

During the visit, King Abdullah II received an extensive overview of GIDS, including its organisational framework, technological capabilities, and defence products. The presentation highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in local defence manufacturing, innovation, and potential opportunities for expanded defence cooperation between Pakistan and Jordan.

The King later travelled to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, an event also attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Mr. Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, was among the notable foreign guests present.

At the ranges, King Abdullah II and the other dignitaries observed a combined fire and manoeuvre demonstration. The exercise featured multi-domain combat operations, showcasing conventional and aerial firepower, coordinated troop movements, electronic warfare capabilities, and the use of versatile drones configured for various operational roles.

King Abdullah II commended the high level of training, professionalism, and readiness displayed by the participating forces and aircrews.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking on the occasion, conveyed Pakistan’s profound regard for King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people, describing the visit as a testament to the longstanding friendship, mutual confidence, and shared commitment to regional peace and development.

During the engagements, the COAS highlighted the close defence ties between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to deepen military cooperation with Jordan and to work together toward a secure and stable region.

Earlier, King Abdullah II awarded the COAS the Order of Military Merit (First Degree) in recognition of his exemplary service and his contributions to strengthening defence cooperation between the two nations.

The King’s two-day visit to Pakistan represents an important moment in further strengthening the historic relationship, unity, and brotherhood between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
