Argentina Defeat Switzerland 3–1 After Extra Time to Reach FIFA World Cup Semi-Finals

Argentina booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals after defeating Switzerland 3–1 following extra time in a hard-fought quarter-final at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

The defending champions took an early lead when Alexis Mac Allister headed home from a Lionel Messi corner in the 10th minute. Switzerland responded in the second half through Dan Ndoye, sending the match into extra time after a tense 1–1 draw in regulation.

Argentina found the breakthrough in the 112th minute when Julián Álvarez finished clinically to restore his side’s advantage. Lautaro Martínez added a third goal deep into stoppage time to seal a 3–1 victory and confirm Argentina’s place in the last four.

The win extends Argentina’s unbeaten run in the tournament and sets up a highly anticipated semi-final clash against England as Lionel Scaloni’s side continues its defence of the FIFA World Cup title.
